The Penn State Student Engagement Network is Set to Close on June 30th, 2025

A message from Director Michael Zeman
Dear Colleagues and Partners,
As I transition into my new role as Director of Experiential Learning in Outreach, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each of you who have collaborated with the Penn State Student Engagement Network (SEN) over the years. Your dedication to engaged learning—through programs, events, mentorship, and innovative initiatives—has been instrumental in growing the network and deepening opportunities for students, faculty, and staff across the institution. Together, we have built a culture that values meaningful learning experiences, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished.
With this transition comes a significant shift: the Student Engagement Network is closing. While this marks the end of an era, it also opens new possibilities for expanding engagement efforts across Penn State in ways that enhance community impact and broaden student experiences. In my new role, I will continue championing engaged learning while also fostering community engagement and outreach partnerships that amplify Penn State’s land-grant mission.
Part of this transition means that we must say goodbye to certain initiatives. The SEN Grant Program, Engagement Academy, SEN Internship Program, SEN Website, Engagement App, and the Engagement Space will officially conclude, while other components of SEN—events like the Summit and Expo, Canvas course, Engagement Coaching, and Engagement Officers—are still under evaluation, I will keep you informed as decisions unfold.
I want to sincerely thank you again for your partnership, support, and shared passion for experiential learning. This is not an end but an evolution, and I look forward to working with many of you in new ways as we move forward. This announcement will be officially shared with the Penn State community on Monday, February 24, in Penn State Today and we will be posting FAQs on the SEN website. I will keep you updated as next steps develop and look forward to continuing this journey together.

Known as student engagement, experiential learning fuels your growth and prepares you for life after graduation.
The most exciting part? As a Penn State student, you get to define your own immersive learning journey. How do you want to deepen your learning? What does personal growth mean to you? What is your dream job, and what skills will you need to land it? The first step is to Find Your Why, to discover what drives you and where you want to go. Then, with support from the Student Engagement Network, you can map the engagement journey across high impact opportunities that will help you get there. Ready to get started?

As a Human Development and Family Studies major, Rachel needed to complete a full-time internship as part of her degree requirements. She knew she wanted to impact the lives of students in some way. Her internship at the Morgan Academic Center at Penn State allowed her to connect with student-athletes off the field and assist them with their academic success.
